The Rev. Alexander Heidel, 48, of 6020 Ingleside av., Lutheran minister who had been a staff member of the Oriental institute of the University of Chicago since 1932, died yesterday in Billings Memorial hospital. He became ill while working on a research project in Iraq two months ago.

A native of Argentina who came to this country in 1927, the Rev. Mr. Heidel was an expert on the language and literature of ancient Assyria. He was the author of two books, The Babylonian Genesis and "The Gilgamesh Epic and Old Testament Parallels."> > Survivors include his widow, Edna; tow sons, Carl and Paul, and two daughters, Mary and Ruth. Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. Stephen's church, 65th st. and Peoria st., and burial will be in Grand Haven, Mich.


El Reverendo Alexander Heidel, de 48 años domiciliado en Av. Ingleside, ministro luterano quien habìa sido miembro del Instituto Oriental de la Universidad de Chicago desde 1932, muriò ayer en el Hospital Billings Memorial. Habìa enfermado mientras trabajaba en una investigaciòn en Iraq dos meses antes.

Oriundo de Argentina de la cual habìa emigrado a este paìs en 1927, el Reverendo Heidel era un experto en lenguaje y literatura de la antigua Assyria (?) Era autor de dos libros: "La Gènesis Babilònica" y "Paralelismos entre la Epopeya de Gilgamesh y el Viejo Testamento"

Lo sobreviven su viuda Edna; dos hijos Carl y Paul, y dos hijas, Mary and Ruth.

Interment Lake Forest cemetery, Glen Haven, Mich. TRiangle 4-8000.
